| ....my beloved hometown |
Born in the busteling town
of Mumbai in India, I was brought up in a manner conservative enough to infuse in me the age-old
Indian culture and values but also liberal enough to make me strong and independent to face today's rapidly changing
world.
I had my primary and
seconday education (which is till 10th grade in India) in my mothertongue, Marathi, in a well-known school in south Mumbai, St. Columba School. I went on to get my BSc in Chemistry from Wilson College and my MSc in Inorganic Chemistry from the Institute of Science, both in my hometown.

And then suddenly came the decision to
fly to US to do my PhD in Nuclear Chemistry at the Oregon State University, Corvallis. This was a huge feat for a girl who had never left her home for more than a week
.....but I slowly got used to the new country, the new culture and the new people.
After completing PhD, once again I moved to another country to
pursue a post-doctoral research job at ANSTO, Australia. And now, finally, after spending 7 odd years outside of my beloved country and hometown, I am back in Mumbai
for good. Along with the change in geographical location I have also changed my profession. No more a research scientist!
Venturing into the exciting world of science communication, writing and translation. Hoping to use my writing skills for betterment
of the society and the world in whatever way I can.
Well that's my life in short till now.....and now
something about my hobbies and things I love to do!

I love to read books, of various kinds
but mostly scientific and thrillers along with the auto/biographies of great people. I don't watch a lot of movies but I do
like to watch action-thrillers, sci-fi and comedies.....British comedies are awsome
.
Music is my another passion.....I can hardly stay without listening to it....so much so
that my mom get's mad at me for listening to it while studying, but oh well!
I like a lot of Bollywood oldies, some new songs, I like dance numbers as well as slow songs, I like regional Indian folk
too....my range is quite large...
.
Another thing I like to do is to learn new languages and learn about new cultures, people,
their customs, religion etc. So its my dream to travel all around the world before I die
.

I do follow some sports too (though I don't play
much myself). I like to watch Cricket (like the proper games
of ODIs or Tests, not the 20-20s and IPL!), Tennis, Football/Soccer
and Formula One too.
Guess that's more
than enough info about me for now.....and as you might have realised, I love to talk
.
